April 29, 2026Victoria Park City of Glasgow competed at the opening CSSAL Division 1 match at Riverside Arena, Ayr, delivering a committed team performance across all disciplines.
Despite a smaller squad, the club showed strength in depth, with standout performances across endurance, sprints and throws.
Highlights
- Allan Cameron delivered the standout performance of the day, winning the 800m Masters A in 2:15.52 to take maximum points, while Graeme Laing backed this up with victory in the 800m Masters B in 2:18.80, completing a superb double for the club.
- Inioluwa Owolabi produced a strong sprint double, finishing 3rd in the 400m U18 Men A in 54.77 and 4th in the 100m U18 Men A in 11.36, contributing valuable points in both events.
- Amy Pender and Phoebe Bonham led the throws group, combining for valuable points, with Amy finishing 2nd in the Shot Putt U16 Girls A with a throw of 8.54m, while Phoebe secured 4th in the Javelin U16 Girls B with 9.93m.
- In the younger age groups, Anya Walker impressed with a 2nd place finish in the 80m U12 Girls A in 12.22, while Isla Thomson also claimed 2nd place in the 100m U16 Girls A in 12.59, both delivering strong sprint performances.
- Gregor Davidson contributed well in the field events, finishing 3rd in the Discus U14 Boys A with a throw of 12.29m, adding important points in the throws competition.
Across the board, athletes contributed vital points, particularly in the middle-distance events, where consistent scoring helped maintain competitiveness.
Victoria Park finished 8th overall, with a total of 262 points, but the result does not fully reflect the number of strong individual performances and event wins achieved on the day.
