Victoria Park City of Glasgow Athletes Enjoy Another Successful Day in the Sunshine at YDL Match 2
Victoria Park City of Glasgow athletes once again delivered an excellent set of performances at Match 2 of the Youth Development League Division 2 competition at Ayrshire Athletics Arena. Competing in warm sunshine throughout the day, there was a fantastic atmosphere around the track and field as enthusiastic young athletes represented the club superbly across all event groups.
Victoria Park finished 4th overall in the match with 270 points and remain 4th in the league standings after two rounds of competition with 9 league points. The club also placed 3rd in the overall Points for Performance table, underlining the quality of performances produced across the team.
The U16 Girls squad enjoyed a particularly successful day, winning their age-group competition with 92 points and finishing ahead of Falkirk Victoria Harriers and Shettleston Harriers.
Outstanding Performances
There were excellent performances throughout the day, with a number of Victoria Park athletes finishing at the top end of their events.
Amy Pender produced one of the performances of the meeting, winning both the U16 Girls Discus with 27.16m and the Shot Put with 9.69m. Her discus performance earned 780 Points for Performance and placed her 8th in the overall Top 10 Scoring Athletes table for the entire competition.
Isla Thomson continued her excellent form on the track, winning the U16 Girls 200m in 26.52 and finishing 2nd in the 100m with 13.16.
Ali Ismael secured maximum points in the U16 Boys Pole Vault, clearing an impressive 3.23m.
The victorious U16 Girls team was also supported by Rowan Campbell, who finished 3rd in the 800m in 2:31.55, while Lola Campton won the B string race in 2:33.23.
Among the U14 athletes, Emily Cochrane won the Girls Discus with a throw of 17.68m, while Anna O’Neill produced another strong sprint performance to finish 3rd in the 200m in 29.80.
The U14 Boys team produced a number of strong performances, with Reuben Tinkler finishing 3rd in the 800m, Gregor Davidson claiming runner-up places in both the Discus and Javelin, and the 4x100m relay team of Jamie MacDonald, Hugo Meikle, James MacLeod and Caleb Baldwin securing an excellent 2nd place finish.

Victoria Park City of Glasgow athletes once again represented the club superbly, producing strong performances across all disciplines while contributing valuable league points. With so many enthusiastic young athletes competing, supporting one another and enjoying the sunshine throughout the day, the match was another excellent advertisement for the strength, depth and spirit of the club. The team now sits well placed in 4th position in the league standings heading into the next round of competition.
